Private Parks
South Basin Park
Located in the Birchbark Settlement at the floor of the Plateau Hiking Trail. It sits at the south end of Wynne Lake and features a canoe launch, canoe racks, picnic tables, and a scenic overlook.
Greenstone Creek Park
Located in the Greenstone Settlement with a babbling creek running down from the Greenstone Nature Trail. The park features a parking area, canoe racks, day dock for use by lake access owners.
Red Pine Beach Park
Located at the Ridgeline Settlement sign, this park has towering red pines and a paved trail to the waters edge. The park has a parking area, sandy swimming beach, a day dock, swim raft, benches, and picnic tables. Closes at dusk.
Sunset View Park
Hidden park off of the Ridgeline Hiking trail. Has beautiful views with bench seating.
Island View Park
Located at the north end of Sunset Settlement near the top of Wynne Lake and features views of Canary Island. Here you will find a fishing pier day dock, canoe launch, and a picnic area.
Wildlife Viewing Park
Located off of Voyageurs Trail with a private blind providing views of an active beaver lodge.
Star Gazer Camp
Sits across from the Pineshore Settlement with hiking trail access to the paved Mesabi Trail. Features tent sites, picnic tables, and fire ring.
North Basin Park
Located between Gakiiwe and Northwoods Settlements. There you will find a short gravel bike trail to access the Mesabi trail and a short gravel hiking trail to a day dock, canoe racks, benches, picnic tables, and fire ring. Parking lot is also present.
Northwoods Park
Located near the north end of Sabin Lake features a day dock, benches, fire ring, and a parking lot all located within pine trees with views of the island studded lake.
12th Pose Interpretive Park
Unique Park located at the North end of Voyageurs Retreat near the historic landmark "Height of Land Portage." This is near where the Continental Divide splits the watersheds of the Great Lakes and the Hudson Bay.
Portage Park
Located within the Portage Settlement and possesses a beautiful view of Giants Ridge. Amenities include a parking lot, benches, picnic tables, fire ring, and a trail to the Interpretive Park.
Bike Trails
Voyageurs Retreat non-motorized bike trail features natural crushed rock surface that runs the length of Voyageurs Retreat. Bikes and hikers that travel along this trail will see the unique shift in natural landscapes as they cross between the settlements. Near the North end of Wynne Lake at the middle of the development, the bike trail connects with the 132 mile paved Mesabi Trail. The bike trail provides access to Giants Ridge with a bridge over the narrows between Sabin and Wynne Lake.
The Mesabi Trail is a 132 mile long paved bike trail that passes between Grand Rapids to Aurora and Ely. It connects several Iron Range communities with trail heads at each of those communities.
